Project Timeline and Schedule

Reasons for Construction Delays:

  • Freezing temperatures during December and January.
  • County inspection and approval delays.
  • NOVEC, the building’s power company, identified during its final inspection that both existing transformers were outdated and needed replacement. They agreed to replace them at their cost because it fell under their scope of work.

We learned about this issue approximately four months ago. Addressing it required a lengthy administrative process involving the county, NOVEC, engineers, and contractors. Additional contractor work was required for underground electrical connections and construction of a concrete platform for the new transformers.

All necessary work has now been completed, including installation of brand-new transformers. We are currently waiting for county approval to connect permanent power.

Without permanent power, we cannot activate the air conditioning units, and without HVAC operation we cannot complete the ceiling closure process. Final painting and flooring installation can only proceed after the ceiling is closed.

There were also some delays from contractors and engineers at various stages of the project.

Expected Construction Completion:
Target completion is by the end of May, depending on the following factors:

  • County approval for permanent power connection
  • Completion of elevator installation
  • County final inspection and occupancy approval

Upcoming Organizational Timeline

  • AGM (Annual General Meeting): Scheduled for June, as required by the bylaws.
  • Election Timeline: Must be conducted within 90 days after receiving the occupancy permit (as per bylaws). The goal is to hold the election before the AGM.
  • Opening Day: Expected sometime in June.
  • Saptah and Fundraising Event: Proposed for late summer.

The executive team is continuously following up with the contractor, bank, and subcontractors to ensure steady progress. We will continue to keep everyone informed with regular updates.

We thank all our members, volunteers, and supporters for their continued patience and support throughout this process. We look forward to opening our own community center and temple very soon.
